Just a quick note on the break-in and the sound. I am about at 200 hours on the break-in and it keeps on improving, getting more open
and spacious. The soundstage is so large and so big that I am just floored. Details are so lifelike, and very delicate sounding and the
bass is coming through with tightness and plenty of depth. This player is a bass monster! This is the very best player I have ever heard,
period! Doug you have really amazed me at the complete transformation of sound! Thanks so much! BTW,I got the premium full mod
done to my oppo and the video improved as well but I am a audio buff. Thanks, Mark W.

Thanks for offering the mods before the group buy purchase program. I just wanted to send you this note that have my blessings to put
on your site now that my unit is fully burned in. ASi had previously supplied me with a fully modified oppo dv-983h player (which is
spectacular!) from last years group buy offering. I was not prepared for the improvements in the new bdp-83! Doug modified my bdp-83
with the statement full upgrade and I can honestly say I have never heard a player in my life that sounds like this (i have heard many,
such as esoterics, linn and audio aero, either in audition or brought over from friends). As good as the dv-983h is/was, this new player is
night and day better. (just like he told me it would be, based on better dac chip and transformer technology). I am hearing deeper into
the music with small artifacts not previously heard (rediscovery of my old music? yup!). The output is very dynamic, big and bold,
resolute and extremely transparent from the stereo outputs (diana krall temptation is staggering), world music sounds so organic!
Thanks so much for your fast service and incredible sounding blue ray player. (the high def disc look better too). You need to have a
reviewer or two hear this incredible player, they will be wowed. I will be having other parts of my system upgraded by asi very soon to get

The OPPO BDP-83 SE Blu-ray Disc Player is an exciting upgrade based on the highly acclaimed BDP-83. The factory upgrade includes an all new analog
audio stage power by the ESS Sabre32 Ultra and Premier Digital-to-Analog Converters and an improved power supply. The Special Edition also includes
the RS-232 control port, which is optional for the regular BDP-83. We recommend the BDP-83 SE to customers who primarily use the analog audio output to
connect to either a dedicated stereo or a multi-channel surround system. For customers who primarily use the HDMI output to connect to an A/V receiver or
directly to a TV/projector, and for customers who primarily use the digital optical/coaxial audio output, the standard BDP-83 is recommended.
Can I drop ship a player in from Amazon.com?
Answer- Yes! Many people are doing this lately. We can also supply you a brand new modified Oppo BDP-83/SE unit as well. We ship world wide. The
Oppo BDP-83/SE is World wide voltage 100-240vac 50/60hz capable. We can make it region free for all playback for $100 extra.
I live overseas and I own a Oppo BDP 83/SE. Do I have to be in the USA in order for me to get a modification done to my BDP 83/SE?
Answer- You can be anywhere in the world to get our modifications done to your BDP-83. In fact, a good amount of our customers are international. You can
either ship in a unit for mods or we can supply you a new modified oppo (with region free hardware option, of course). Most people prefer to have us supply
a new modified unit because it saves time and money, however some have sent us units from overseas. Remember, the Oppo BDP-83/SE world wide
voltage capable 100-240vac 50/60hz and with the optional region free hardware mod, this player can be used worldwide!
What about the warranty? Does this unit lose its warranty after your work on it?
Answer- We pickup the warranty from the stock unit from oppo. We have great confidence in the build of these fine blu-ray players and if there is ever any
problems (which we do not foresee) you will deal directly with us to fix the issue, whether it is related to the modifications or not. We cannot be liable for end-
user unsuccessful firmware upgrade installations. Not responsible for damage due to electrical surges, lightning damage, or other acts of god. Not
responsible for customer negligence. Operation of this unit must be conducted in the same manner as described in the owner’s manual of your unit or in
the custom user instructions supplied by ASi in certain applications (ie: ASi OTM battery supply). Your warranty is void if an unauthorized person or center
does further work to your unit or tries to repair a part that is still under warranty and is not given proper authorization to do so. We cannot be liable for any
actions once someone else has been inside the modified unit.

Answer- This is an excellent question. We prefer to remain professional and stand mute about commenting about any other competitors products or
services, we feel this is just the proper and professional way of conducting business. It is natural for anyone in business to defend their own products and
services, especially when asked how it compares to others. There is really no concise answer to this question, especially since we offer so many different
kinds of stages of mods and options per specific budget that there is so many different possible outcomes. The bottom line is if you want big, bold powerful
sound, that is crystal clear, extended and also musical and engaging, our Premium/Statement full mods and options are what your looking for. The sound is
"balanced" throughout the entire spectrum and is just a joy to listen too. The music just flows and sounds so relaxing. No thinness or hump in frequency

Does your Premium and Statement FULL player mods also include the HDMI modifications?
Answer- Yes! When you order the Premium or Statement full player mods, your also getting the HDMI modifications. When you order the HDMI only
modifications (for using the unit only with receiver or pre/pro), there is no work being done on the 2ch/7.1ch analog section circuit board inside of the unit.
What is your typical turnaround once I send my unit in or if you provide me a new modified unit?
Answer- This really depends on which modification and also any additional options you choose. Turnaround can vary from 1-5 weeks. The average
turnaround is about 2-3 weeks. We completely test the unit once the modifications are complete and we burn the unit in for 24 hours minimum to ensure
everything is perfect before shipment.

Answer- The region free hardware mod is a cable and circuit board that replaces a stock ribbon card cable inside the oppo to allow region free DVD and Blu-
Ray playback. This mod is manually set via the oppo remote and no TV or monitor is needed for adjustment. This will allow you to continually update your
firmware from Oppo with the latest updates and performance upgrades and still keep your unit region free with no issues.
Here is the region free mod instructions:
~When you connect a power cord to the back of the oppo, you will hear a small beep coming from the inside, this is normal.
~To switch to a different zone, for Blu-Ray, press and hold the remotes BLUE button for around 5 seconds until you hear beeps, press 2 for zone B (you will
hear 2 beeps), or press 3 for Zone C (3 beeps) or to revert to Zone A, press 1 (you will hear 1 beep).
~To switch to region free for DVD playback, press and hold the remotes RED button for about 5 seconds until you hear beeps, press the 0 button (you will
hear long beep) and this means the unit is now region free for dvd playback.
~You need to restart the unit by turning the power off and back on for this to take effect.

Good morning Doug, I wanted to give you some feedback on the oppo blue-ray you did for me that you can put
up online if you wish. Doug installed his statement full monty modification into my oppo which I use for mainly
music and some good blue-ray movies. The audio performance is top rate. Excellent imaging, excellent top to
bottom coherency. You guys really know how to make a player sound like a live event. Bravo! You have my
highest recommendation. I would leave you feedback on audiogon but forget those ridiculous fees they now

Please post this review on your website about my oppo mod you did for me. I have broke in the hdmi statement level oppo 83 you did
for me for about 400 total hours and compared it to a non modified oppo 83 used in another system through my onkyo 885p processor.
The immediate difference between both units is the bass weight, gain and dynamic impact punch. Listening along I hear a drastic
improvement in separation of instruments and more refinement in the treble area on compact discs and better separation between
objects which make them sound more defined on blu ray discs. After listening to the comparison I am ready to send in my other unit,
you could charge double the price and it would well worth it. great job and will contact you to send in my other 83. Best, Richard B.
